Our story starts with two neighboring businesses often working side-by-side on different parts of the same projects. Lykins Development Specialties was a Lykins family company specializing in the production of custom mailboxes for local developers and builders. Signtek made the signage those developers and realtors relied upon to market the projects. Their capabilities complemented each other and the decision to join forces was almost inevitable – both believing a one-stop solution would be beneficial to their business and to the community. After 20 years of growth under the leadership of the two founders, testimony to their enduring and successful partnership, Lykins-Signtek has firmly established itself as the cornerstone of the Southwest Florida custom signage and mailbox industry, and the time was right to pass the baton. In October 2019, a new owner acquired the assets of Lykins-Signtek, and swiftly embarked on a strategy of modernization and regional expansion. In January 2020, the “new” Lykins Signtek closed on the purchase of SignMasters (aka Artisan Signs) of Nokomis, FL, whose local offices and production capabilities firmly establish Lykins Signtek as a leading sign provider in Venice, Sarasota and adjacent areas.
It’s been a rewarding and sometimes challenging ride. Along with our clients, our business has enjoyed the booms and weathered the busts of our local economy. We are thankful for the long-term relationships that have made this possible and we believe they are rooted in our small business values – do the right thing, do it well, keep our promises, treat our employees like family and our clients like friends. As a member of the International Sign Association we strive for the highest professionalism in our trade, and we maintain current UL and electrical sign contractor registrations for your safety and peace of mind.
